History of the Building where Our Cafe is Located at:
1900's This building used to be a residence.
1920's It was later turned over into an Ice Cream parlor called "Little
Dipper", while serving as a residence to the Ice Cream parlor
owner (a lady entrepreneur).
1950's The Ice Cream parlor/residence was sold to a husband & wife,
who lived & worked in the same building......as their family grew,
they expanded their Ice Cream parlor business by selling
sandwiches. ...BY this time the business name was no longer
suitable and the owner with his sense of humor decided to call it
"Sandwiched Inn", as the building was squeezed (..sandwiched)
between the two taller adjacent buildings. The business became
so successful that the family moved out and bought a house,
and the living quarters of the house was turned into additional
space needed for the restaurant.
1970's This house/restaurant was later sold to a chef & his wife, who
further expanded the type & flavor of the food being catered to
the then student population of the San Jose State University.
1980's Affie's (present owner/chef) parents bought Sandwiched Inn, and
kept the staff..
1990's Sandwiched Inn as a business changed hands, & was sold to two
partners.
2002 Cafe Pomegranate's idea was conceptualized by Affie's Dad,
and construction/remodeling started.
2003 Cafe Pomegranate started serving the general public in June 2003.
